Hi,
I have been actively dancing and playing for around 5 days a week for the past 3 months. Even maintaing a calorie deficit of 500-750 calories everyday. Yet my weight has not changed at all. Even my fat percentage hasn't changed. What could be the possible reasons for this? Should I get tested for something else? My thyroid tests came out normal. I have even drastically reduced my sugar and rice intake. I'm really surprised that I haven't even lost a single kg. Please help.

Hi
A very low calorie diet devoid of vitamins and minerals may put you in starvation mode.
In Starvation mode your body take message that he/she is not eating much and starving. Due to which a body metabolism drops and a body Start storing the calories in the form of fat.
That may be the reason for your no weight loss. You should eat the calories required by body. Eating less or eating more - both are bad for your,Its all about eating right calories at right time.

Hello, At your height, your weight is actually at the higher end of the normal zone. You are not over weight right now. For you not losing weight in spite of efforts, one of the reasons could be hormonal imbalance, especially thyroid related. Other reasons could be, not so accurate estimate of calorie intake and exercise. Also, it is much harder for people in Norma weight zone to lose weight than people who are over weight. Based on the information you have provided, your calorie intake should be between 1000-1100 calories per day for you to be able to lose around half kilogram a week. If you would like your current status evaluated thoroughly to give you a personalized diet plan, please contact me. -Dr. Lahari Surapaneni.
