SSRI Consultation
I am having some health anxiety especially cardiophobia with some little mood disorders. I am able to do day to day activities like go outside, move alone, but there is some continuous health anxiety with little mood changes. My psychiatrist diagnosed me GAD with MD and prescribed me Sertraline 25mg then 50 mg, which I am taking. But he also prescribed me antipsychotic Aripriprazole 2 mg with it. I am afraid to take Aripriprazole. Shall I take SSRI only or go with Aripriprazole also.

I think u can avoid Aripiprazole for now. Just sertraline would help.

How long has it been since you started Sertraline? It usually takes 3-4 weeks to show effect in adequate dose. Initially, it is not necessary to take aripiprazole consecutively. Kindly book an appointment for further discussion with Dr Tanve Garg, MD Psychiatry

Your medications are on point… no need to worry Aripiprazole acts as an augmenting agent to sertraline .. however you might need a higher dose of sertraline if you don’t get better in 3-4 weeks
