Spinal TB (kyphosis)
My mom is diagnosed with Spinal TB. She was suffering from back pain from last one year, but now due to improper diagnosis, the reason for this was never fully understood. Recently in MRI scans, one doctor has indicated presence of spinal  TB. Inorder to treat it, he has given anti biotics and some multivitamin and calcium supplements, and has advised complete bed rest. The doctor is advising to undertake surgery as soon as possible. I have attached MRI scans. Is surgery last resort in this case? Can it be treated with medications, and total bed rest?

The MRI snaps do not show much of cold abscess. I presume that there is no neurological deficit. If that is true, in that event I would like to treat her without surgery with ATT drugs & Taylor's brace along with bed rest.

First things first. There is no doubt about the diagnosis, she has spinal TB. As in any infection, primary treatment is always antibiotics. Surgery is only necessary in 2 conditions -     1. Fracture or abnormal bending of the spine where the weak spine has to be supported.     2. If there is weekness in lower limbs or difficulty in passing urine due to the infection causing nerve compression /damage.
Next Steps
Monitor her blood reports. CBC/ESR, LFT. Continue her antibiotics course(minimum 6months), bed rest for initial 2months.
Health Tips
Regular follow up with your primary doctor to monitor her recovery. If she starts complaining of difficulty in passing urine or weakness / numbness in legs, immediately consult your doctor.
