Spinal fusion
My mother P.Nagamani has been diagnosed with L4 L5 spinal stenosis with spondylolisthesis .She tried to manage the condition through consjervative methods but failed.So on 25/08/26 she underwent spinal fusion surgery but since then there is severe pain at incision site and even while sleeping or sitting .Is it ok?Any medications or way to reduce pain please kindly advise me in this hour of profound gried for me as a son

Many analgesics are available and in different preparations like patches Consult your operating surgeon so that appropriate drug can be started with minimum side effects

Intense pain at incision site is common in first few week. Use supportive pillow under back when sleeping or sitting. Applying ice packs on surgical area for 15 min at a time.

Hi , i would suggest you get the wound checked by your operating surgeon. They will definitely guide you. Typically after surgery there is some operative site pain, but all surgeons will prescribe some medications for that. The pain becomes better in a couple of days and a sensation of tightness remains till the stitches are removed. If pain is too much , better to get the wound checked.

Postoperative pain is common and more so in open spine surgery , in case of persistent pain kindly ask your treating doctor for analgesics, with adequate analgesics care pt recovery will be smooth . Take care
