Spinal fusion issues
My mother,P.Nagamani underwent spinal fusion surgery for spinal stenosis (L4-L5) on 25/08/2026 ,she has been prescribed Gabapentin nerve medication, zacy mr ,pantop 40 post surgery medications but since 3 days she has been feeling loss of balance sensation on standing (unable to stand even a minute without support), posterior leg trembling from calf to feet and loss of sensation on big toes and tingling in feet .Any medications to help her in this condition? Please kindly help.

Hello sir.
Going through your history as the patient have undergone spinal fusion surgery i will like to know what was the pre op history amd clinical condition of the patient.
Also if possible can u post pre-op images of MRI spine and if any images of any post op imaging done.
I would also like to know whether the patient was able to stand and walk without support before the surgery and also is the condition of power in lower limb same before surgery and after surgery.
Regarding the medication the prescribed medication are sufficient.

Hi , it is difficult to interpret post-op symptoms without a complete understanding of the pre-op condition. Gabapentin is typically prescribed for relief of tingling sensation in feet in such conditions. However, in some patients , the medication itself can cause giddiness and loss of balance. Some dose modification or drug modification may be required in that case. It's always best to get in touch with your operating surgeon to help you in your post-op recovery.
If the patient also complains of neck pain and radiating pain or numbness in upper limbs , kindly consider getting a cervical spine MRI done (If not already evaluated)
