Been facing speech issue for quite some time , I don’t really stutter much, maybe occasionally, but my main problem is articulation.
When I try to speak a sentence, I often can’t say it correctly in one go. It feels like my tongue and facial muscles don’t fully cooperate ,the words get stuck, and I have to try 2–3 times before they come out right.
Because of this, I usually stick to very short lines (like “hey how are you,” “khana kha liya?” etc.). But whenever I try speaking longer sentences, I struggle a lot. Like explaining something to someone or trying to have a long conversation
It also fluctuates: some days are better, other days it’s worse. the problem shows up more when I am relaxed not thinking i have any issues in speech and try to speak like a normal person . I am not able to fully express myself due to this and most of the time I am self conscious about it so just tend to give short replies as response

Hello,
I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
I understand your concern.
â¡ï¸ Difficulty in articulation, words getting âstuck,â and trouble forming longer sentences (even without typical stuttering) can sometimes happen due to mild speech fluency disorders, anxiety, or coordination issues between tongue and facial muscles.
General Advice:
Practice slow and relaxed speech; donât rush through sentences.
Breathing exercises and mindfulness before speaking can help reduce tension.
Reading aloud daily (newspaper/book) improves clarity and confidence.
What to monitor:
Whether symptoms worsen during stress, anxiety, or tiredness.
Any associated weakness of face, tongue, or hands (neurological signs).
Fluctuation in speech depending on situation and mood.
Treatment/Next Steps:
A speech therapist (speech-language pathologist) can guide you with personalized exercises to improve articulation and fluency.
If the problem is long-standing or worsening, a neurologist consultation may be helpful to rule out any nerve or muscle coordination issues.
Anxiety or self-consciousness can make the problem worse â practicing relaxation and confidence-building techniques is very important.
When to consult immediately:
If you suddenly develop slurred speech, facial weakness, or difficulty swallowing.
If the problem worsens rapidly.
With regular speech therapy and supportive care, most people see significant improvement.
