Speech delay in 2 year old
Hi my son is 2 year old he can understand every thing (eg: give book , keep the glass there ect )but he can't talk he talks only few words like appa( father) Amma( mother)amba(cow)tata,baa,mama some times.he will try to repeat what we say sometimes but not properly he is very active respons to his name all milestones are normal interaction with other kids is also good but he can't talk or reply what we say pls suggest is this is only speech delay or other things to rule out

"It's completely understandable to be concerned about your son's speech development. It's great that he understands so much, responds to his name, and interacts well with other children – these are all very positive signs, indicating good receptive language and social development.
However, at 2 years old, most children are typically using more words (around 50 or more) and starting to put two words together. His limited vocabulary and difficulty repeating words properly suggest that while his understanding is good, his expressive language might be delayed.
While this could simply be a developmental speech delay, which is common, it's always best to rule out any underlying issues. I strongly recommend you consult with your pediatrician as soon as possible.
