A pregnancy less than 6 weeks (from the date of last period) may be missed in abdominal ultrasound. Otherwise all pregnancies will be picked up by ultrasound scan, whether Intrauterine or ectopic. A pregnancy less than 6 weeks will also be picked by TVS.
