Soft muscles and unable to gain weight
Hi, I have been unable to gain weight since past two years. Apart from that i my muscles have softened, my arms, my legs muscles around chest and stomach as well. I practice yoga since past two years but however exercise i do my body doesnot harden up. I have also had digestion issue like gastric problems, constipation problem. I used to smoke and drink but have quit now. Please let me know the issue.

I would very firstly like to know, what all is your schedule for the day, your eating habits, your likes-dislikes, any type of food allergies. Another thing, that muscle loss could be the side effect of quoting smocking and drinking (which will be recovered, but, obviously will take time). I’ll surely help you out, as the best I can.

Hello. Gaining weight has become as difficult as loosing weight. One must try to slowly increase their food intake and appetite in order to increase their body weight. It is also important to note that the increase in body weight should not be through fat gain, but muscle gain. To increase muscle mass, one must consume healthy food rich in complete proteins, coming from low fat milk and milk products, lean cuts of chicken, blend of cereals and pulses. With proteins, complex Carbohydrates is also essential that is sourced from whole grain cereals and pulses. Lastly fats, that should be in limited amounts, coming majorly from invisible sources like nuts and oil seeds that are rich in MUFA and PUFA.
