Hi,
As a clinical psychologist, I would like to suggest that you must take psychological intervention from a mental health professional to overcome from this and to lead a healthy life. Only deap breathing exercises are not going to work in long term.
It seems to be GAD. It needs to be treated asap otherwise it may get complicated.
It can be well treated with counseling sessions and medication if required.

Yes you are right sometimes only breathing exercises never help in certain situations especially when you are feeling very overwhelmed. This is the point where we also need to try and help our thoughts de tangle.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy helps you de tangle these thoughts. In the past I have helped my clients using this therapy in which a combination of relaxation techniques and working effectively with the thought patterns was followed. If this has been troubling you and affecting your daily routine since 8th grade it’s important that you take a step ahead and work on this. And remember it’s never too late :)
