Slip disc - annual tear at L4 L5 level.
MRI REPORT Straightening of lumbar curvature. Disc dessication at L4 L5 and L5 S1 level. Diffuse disc bulge with posterocentral annual tear and disc protrusion at L4 L5 level. Mild diffuse disc bulge at L5 S1 level. How it can be cured? Is operation necessary or physiotherapy can heal it?

Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Unless there is an impingement of nerve due to the disc bulge which causes weakness in the muscles supplied by that nerve or symptoms like tingling, pin pricks, numbness etc, there is no need for surgery. An in depth evaluation by the physical therapist and a treatment plan should be able to back on track.
