Hi, You seem to be suffering from hypnophobia or sleep dread. It is an extremely hard situation you have been facing as you are dreading the very thing that has the capacity to help you out of all physical, emotional & psychological ailments, the sleep. In this state even if you manage to sleep, you do not let yourself transition to deep sleep easily. Good news is that you have already faced the anxiety to a great extent & managed to come out of the issue partially. Next step you are to take is to pay attention to the thoughts & emotions which occur before you fall sleep to understand the source of dread & convert the anxiety into specific fear. Say the fear of nightmares or of not being in control of something happening to you while sleeping. Once you come to this stage, further understand the source of fear including specific incidents which might have triggered this anxiety before 2 years. I am sure you would manage to come out of this issue on your own. If it seems difficult, do not hesitate to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist, who should be of assistance. Continue to be the fighter & a strong person you are. Take Care.
