This is called bruxism.. slowly u will grind the outer hardest layer enamel , and after than dentin wears off rapidly. This is lead to collapse in your overall bite and damage all your teeth severly and will directly affect your temporomandibular joint and cause pain . To prevent further damage , ask your dentit for a Nightgaurd . If there is some damage already , reconstruction or capping few teeth may be required to regain the original bite . In severe cases , full mouth rehabilitation is adviced. But anyday prevention is better and less expensive than cure.
Next Steps
Get a Nightgaurd and wear it in sleep and most part of the day except eating

Namaskaram, Over doing of anything is not healthy. But we should have a knowledge on if its voluntary or involuntary action. Excessive grinding or clenching may result in muscle wear and tear. Hence they should be treated immediately. There are a several treatment options like the orthodontic splints , guards etc . Do visit a dentist and get your self checked with a couple of clinical and radio graphical examinations for detailed treatment plan. Team Shambhala.
