Shooting pain in right ear for 7 days
I am suffering from shooting pain in my right ear for past few days. I saw a doc and he prescribed amoxicillin but it did not help after I took the prescribed course. I then had discharge with pain and then doc prescribed Ceftum which I took for 5 days. Even then my symptoms did not go. I then took another advice and took Taxim AZ for 7 days. It helped me get some relief from pain but there was continuous discharge. I got a CT scan done which says 'opacification with sclerosis of the mastoid air cells'. What should I do and what should be my line of treatment? Please advise.

Pain in the ear with discharge can be from infection of the external ear canal or in the middle ear with perforation of the tympanic membrane. In either case medication will be helpful for reducing the discharge and pain. Another diagnosis of fungal infection can be put as the discharge is not relieved with antibiotics. Please visit an ENT specialist directly for another opinion.
