Severe with mucus

My daughter has been suffering from severe cold for the past 5 days. She had travelled for a while and returned to my place last week. Eversince she came to my place she has running cold but no fever. However, she stopped eating solids kept on taking milk even to now. Is this type of cold is common in kids? How long they stop eating solids? Please give us some solution.
