Severe tooth pain due to third molar
Hello, From past few days I am having severe tooth pain. I had consulted with a dic and she told there is pus formation due to 3rd molar. I have attached the xray report and looking for few options whether extraction is required or simple filing of the tooth will work. Thanks. Ashish

Hello mr Ashish according to your xray which you have attached along the best treatment would be to extract your wisdom tooth as the xray clearly shows infection in your wisdom tooth. This cannot be filled or root canal treated as it is not in a favorable position.
Next Steps
Get extraction of wisdom tooth done from your dentist
Health Tips
There is absolutely no need to worry because extraction of wisdom tooth is a painless procedure done under local anesthesia and also the wound heals well within few days.

Hello sir , the x ray is not at all clear . There might be an infection due to third molar. Due to food logdement at that third molar which has caused infection in the gums . Looks like its partially erupted , you could probably take a course of antibiotics and painkiller , you could either maintain it clean or get it removed.

Hello Mr. Ashish, although the x-ray is not clear, its clear you have a partially erupted wisdom tooth or the third molar and because of the flap of tissue over it, it is difficult to keep it clean, food lodgement inside that flap causes decay in the third molar. Since there is no space for it to erupt fully, the situation will persist like this. Because of the difficulty in access to instrumentation it is usually advised for extraction.
Next Steps
Plan the extraction with your dentist at the earliest.

Although the X-ray is not very clear but one thing is for sure that the position of the tooth is not amenable for any restorative treatment and extraction is the best permanent solution. As such, a simple filling will not eliminate the infection that has accumulated in the area. And even if you go for a root canal treatment, the current infection might subside but because of the improper angulation of the tooth it is bound to reappear and in that case you will be requiring extraction only. So instead of undergoing multiple procedures which do not have a long prognosis it is better to go for the extraction of the offending tooth for permanent relief of the symptoms. Regards.
