Severe insomnia. Please help.
Difficulty in falling asleep. Sometimes wont get sleep for 2-3 days straight until I take a sedative like a cough syrup or avomine. Tried meditation but didn't work, even tried taking melatonin and other ayurvedic/homeopathic medicines but that also didn't work, too many thoughts rushing in mind. If I fall asleep by chance then sleep will be for good 8 hours with no disturbance. Had this problem since many years but last year with regular gym workouts I used to get proper sleep but now recently faced a back injury because of which not able to workout consistently and facing insomnia again. Please help me with some temporary medicine which I can quit once my normal gym routine starts.

You seem to suffering from difficulty in onset of sleep. Can be because of many reasons. Only a sleeping pill may not help as it would come back once the pill is stopped.  Daytime complaints will have to evaluated. After a long time of insomnia the bed gets associated with lack of sleep and lots of thoughts. That association needs to broken via behavior therapy. Kindly get evaluated by a psychiatrist as long term sleep deprivation is harmful for health.
