Hello Doctors. For a few days I have been having a severe dental sensitivity which happens primarily when I eat anything sweet or even if it has a remotely cooler temperature. Washing my mouth, drinking water and even breathing through my mouth when I'm exhausted, creates this sharp tingling like sensation in the right lower teeth starting from the canines to the molars. I have a broken tooth there as well as an old root canal. I have used sensodyne but nothing has helped. Rather the 'jhanjhanahat'/sensitivity has increased. What medicine should I take so that this stops temporarily? I will get the tooth filled but before that it would greatly help if the sensitivity reduces. Please help?

Hi,
Based on your symptoms—sharp, tingling pain triggered by sweets, cold, and air, along with a history of a broken tooth and an old root canal—this may be due to nerve irritation or exposed dentin, possibly from decay or an open cavity.
While a proper dental filling or repair is the definitive solution, there are many good remedies to decrease the sensitivity and other symptoms and make you feel at ease, and remedies before the dental procedures to avoid the after effects and even remedies to make you heql faster post the dental treatment procedure.
Notes for now:
Avoid very cold, sweet, or acidic foods for now.
Continue using a soft toothbrush and avoid aggressive brushing.
If symptoms worsen, consult a dentist soon to prevent nerve damage or infection.
For a long-term solution, please do not delay getting the treatment.
I'd be happy to help you through a consult.
