Scopy guidance
My father aged 75 has swallowing issues and took a CT Neck and found this in the impression "Soft tissue density lesion involving the base of tongue , right vallecula and right lateral pharyngeal wall.    -Suggested scopy correlation" We are planning to go for a scopy soon, is it done as op? Or do we need to prepare similar like endoscopy procedure? They said biopsy might be taken during the scopy. Pls advise if it can be done in the doctor's room itself? Q2. Can it be a cancer? (No weight loss so far) Thanks

Yes, it will be an ot procedure if they are planning biopsy in the same sitting. Confirmatory diagnosis can not be said without a biopsy report. Cancer cannot be ruled out as of now.

Preferable to do in OT Biopsy if needed can be taken in same sitting. Yes it may or may not be cancer, Histopathological examination of Biopsy tissue is ultimate.

Possible. Suggest you get a copy done at a Cancer Hospital as the pathology department will be better equipped with most cancer markers
