Dealing with persistent vocal fatigue and vocal cord paresis can be challenging, but this can be addressed systematically with targeted nerve rejuvenation and soothing therapies. In Ayurveda, your condition is classified as swarabhedga (voice disorder) caused by an imbalance in udaan vata—the sub-dosha governing speech and the laryngeal region—settling in the throat (Kantha). Following the previous bout of ulceration, the priority is to pacify Vata, nourish the weakened nerve pathways, and relieve local inflammation.
Next Steps
Dealing with vocal fatigue and vocal cord weakness can feel overwhelming, but a simple Ayurvedic routine can help nourish the vocal nerves and ease throat strain. In Ayurveda, this issue is linked to an imbalance in Udana Vata, the energy that governs speech and throat function. Saraswata Choorna or Kalyanaka Avaleha mixed with a little honey to support nerve strength. Khadiradi Vati lozenges to soothe the throat and reduce mild swelling. Gargle daily with warm licorice (Yashtimadhu) decoction to hydrate and coat the vocal cords. Gently massage the neck with warm Mahanarayana oil, followed by a warm towel compress to relax tense throat muscles. Rest your voice as much as possible, avoiding both shouting and whispering. Sip warm water throughout the day and avoid cold, dry, or spicy foods that irritate the throat.
