If this has been happening for a few months now and has increased in intensity. Also if there are other associated symptoms like checking, repeatedly washing hands, need for symmetry, or requiring to do anything a certain number of times, asking others for reassurance or to make sure you have done it properly or not. All these symptoms are indicative of OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER. It may need immediate treatment as it can be particularly troubling. Treatment is a combination of medications plus therapy.
