My 9y old son has been showing some distinct habits and characters. His friends describe him as his thought racing really fast that they can't catch hold. He has made some drawings as k have attached. Psychologist suggest psychometric assessment from niepid. And the report is also attached. I'm somehow skeptical is this report explains his abilities and shortcomings. He literally thinks in systems and can go really deep into his designs. Teachers say he is very highly creative and his ideas are "out of the world", but goes lost in the class and needs to be called back in order to complete the class work. Extremely good at robotics. But He has difficulty in writing as his hands pain. Impulsively does things even knowing that's inappropriate. Can't hurry up even when he's being repeatedly told that less time is left. I'm not understanding if it's naughtiness or something else. Kindly help me understand.
It seems to be ADHD with LD. It needs to be ruled out with other psychometric analysis.
It needs to be treated asap otherwise it may get complicated and can affect his behavior and performance later.
It can be well treated with counseling sessions and homeopathic medicine effectively and without any side effects.
It needs to be addressed in a holistic approach for complete recovery.
You need an expert psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.
Next Steps
I have been working as a Homeopathic Psychiatrist and Counseling psychologist for the last 17 years of experience.
We have been dealing with such kids with good results. You can contact me through an online appointment for further assistance.
Kindly reach out to a clinical psychologist in person for a comprehensive neurodevelopmental profile assessment rather than a basic IQ test.
Also try an occupational therapist who can help us in assessing his grip, build hand strength, and who can also recommend ergonomic pencil grips
Your son's profile—racing thoughts, deep system-based thinking, "out of the world" creativity, robotics skill, but handwriting pain, impulsivity, and getting lost in class—points to a twice-exceptional (2e) profile, likely gifted with a coexisting issue like ADHD, dysgraphia, or sensory processing differences. The psychometric report from NIPID is a starting point, not a full picture, because standard tests often miss uneven gifted profiles. The handwriting pain and impulsivity are not naughtiness; they suggest a neurological or motor coordination issue that needs separate evaluation. Since this is affecting his classroom function, consult a developmental pediatrician or child psychologist who specializes in giftedness and learning differences to get a proper integrated assessment.
Would recommend a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment to understand his attention difficulties and impulse control. His creativity abilities should be encouraged
You are blessed with a wonderful child, embrace him and give him an environment that helps be creative and calm environment to grow personally and professionally and reach success in all areas soon. Don’t worry about this, I want you give some space to your son and understand him as much as you can, take a back seat and observe and you don’t worry or be anxious
