There is a cavity inside and must have got the infection till the roots. This tooth definitely needs root canal treatment and post and core buildup and followed by one decent cap.

According to X-ray,yes it might require Root canal treatment but need to evaluate it clinically.There is no need to extract the tooth,as the tooth can be saved.
You should get it treated now irrespective of how much the infection is.
