From your description, the most likely cause is conjunctivitis (eye infection/inflammation) or eye strain/dryness related to prolonged laptop use. Since only one eye is affected, infection or allergy is more likely. • Artificial tears can relieve dryness, but redness and watering suggest possible infective (viral/bacterial) or allergic conjunctivitis. • Usually, these conditions improve in a few days, but if symptoms worsen, proper evaluation is needed.
Next Steps
1. Avoid touching or rubbing your eye. 2. Use only the prescribed drops — do not self-start antibiotic drops without medical advice. 3. Wash hands frequently; if it is infectious conjunctivitis, it can spread. 4. Take breaks from screens (“20-20-20 rule”: every 20 mins, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds). 5. If redness, pain, swelling, blurred vision, or light sensitivity increases — see an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) immediately.
Health Tips
• Do not share towels, pillows, or specs to avoid spreading infection. • Continue using lubricating drops as prescribed. • If you notice discharge, sticky eyelids, or worsening discomfort — you may need specific treatment.
