Doctor saheb I have been suffering from a recurrent fungal infection for several years. The infection usually appears on one area of my body, and after taking antifungal medicine it improves or completely clears up. However, after I stop the medicine, it comes back again after some time. Sometimes it returns at the same place, while sometimes it appears on another area of the body.
I have noticed that using soap on the affected area makes the irritation/infection worse, so I avoid using soap directly on those areas.
I am very bothered by this problem because it has been recurring for many years despite treatment. I want to know the exact reason why it keeps coming back and whether there is a proper treatment to completely control it and prevent recurrence.
Please advise whether I need a KOH test, fungal culture, or any other test to confirm the diagnosis before treatment. Kindly suggest the correct treatment, duration, precautions, and how I can prevent it from coming back permanently.
