Recovery after Wisdom Tooth Removal
Hello, My lower right wisdom tooth was impacted. It was 90% inside the gums & almost 25% inside the next tooth. Eventually bacteria formed & infected the adjacent tooth as as well. When severe pain starts in 2nd molar, I went to dentist she suggested root canal in 2nd one and removal of wisdom tooth. She did RCT in 2nd & did temporary filling and with the help of a surgeon, she removed the impacted wisdom tooth. After surgery, they said the case was deep and near to nerve but all is well. Its been 1 week, swelling is almost gone just a small solid lump is left and I have almost no pain. Other teeth pains a little sometimes I guess that's the part of recovery. She suggested regular warm fomentation and salt warm rinses. I have two concerns. One, seems like removable stitches which she suggested are stitched to my cheeks as well and I can open my mouth to only 50% capability till now. Are these two things normal & what to do to speed up the process?

Hey, It's a good sign that your swelling has almost subsided. Be rest assured your stitches are at the very normal place where it should be. And your cheeks are doing fine too. Regarding mouth opening... It is 50% till now because of muscle stiffness around the extracted tooth area. It subsides gradually. Try to open your mouth and put three fingers inside it vertically. If you can achieve that you are good to go. The stiffness will subside gradually.
Next Steps
If the stiffness still persist you can ask your dentist or consult me for the same. I will advice you few exercises thereafter.

Hi.. After surgical removal of wisdom teeth, 2 weeks is normal healing period. Your 1st concern is stitches , so 3rd molar is most distal part of the oral cavity so to gain the proper stitches which can retain for a week , a surgeon has to take it from buccal mucosa it seems like cheek but it's part of your ridge. & Restricted mouth opening is also common after removal. You should do warm saline water gargle 2-3 times a day & try to open mouth wide little by little after 7 days of removal.

After removal of impacted wisdom tooth, swelling and pain  lasts for around 1-2 weeks. Take antibiotics as prescribed. If any further information needed, you can consult through this.
