Hi there ...in my opinion, for regular check up you should visit a Pediatric dentist because a general dentist might miss some of the problems that he/she is not aware of.
So, irrespective of the child's cooperation levels...one should visit a specialist for a perfect an expert opinion.
Take care ..!!

Seek an expert opinion always. Pedodontist have three years additional training in handling kids. For other problems do you consult a pediatrician or general physician? Be wise and decide for yourself.
For regular check up and cavity treatment of your child, you may go to either your regular dentist or pedodontist but as per your child age, you may prefer pedodontist who can better control tantrum of this age group child.
Yes if the child is cooperative & comfortable with the dentist it can be seen & problems be treated by a general dentist as well. if not then, pl visit a pedodontist
As long as the child is cooperative any dentist can do a check up. However depending on the type of treatment needed a regular dentist or a pedodontist may be required.
That's a really good question which many have .I would suggest you to go for a normal Dentist and you don't need a specialist for this .He will access and let u know if their is any special requirement for any specific treatment based on case to case

A regular dentist can surely review children's teeth, and do required treatment provided the child is cooperative and comfortable with the doctor. It is good to take your child for dental checkup so he doesn't carry the fears into adulthood. In case the dentist feels necessary he might refer you to a Pedodontist.
