Yes crown is necessary because it will protect the remaining tooth structure from breaking & it will also maintain the space to be occupied by the permanent teeth that will erupt after 4 years. If possible you can upload an opt x ray of your kid so that the eruption of the tooth can be evaluated.
Next Steps
visit a dentist, get a crown over the root canal treated tooth.

hello, Yes, a cap should be put even on milk teeth after root canal treatment. It will be protected till it's time for it to fall off. And the tooth will fall off along with the cap. Consult your pedodontist and get it done.

If decay has involved major structure of tooth then cap is mandatory... And if tooth is less affected  (intact all sides) then cap can be avoided...only filling required... But as per my opinion you should go for cap because over period of time there are chances of chipping of filling and tooth material also...

As explained by my erstwhile colleagues a cap/crown is needed if the tooth is badly damaged and lot of tooth structure is replaced by a filling ...Also since there's a long time for the tooth to fall off there is risk of breakage of the tooth further ...Hence a stainless steel crown is given usually

Yes it is better to put a cap even on milk teeth after RCT.  It will be best protected for 3-4year till it's time for it to fall off. And the molar will fall off along with the cap so need not worry. Dr Swati Karkare. Pediatric dentist. Child Smile Care
Next Steps
get the cap put on your child's tooth as soon as possible from your pediatric dentist.

Hello Maam, it is advicable to go for a cap after Pulpectomy( ie Root canal) and more over it is one of the tooth which helps the kid to eat. As it takes around 4-5yrs for the new teeth to come, it is suggestable to get the cap done. Dr. Vinay kumar Vinay's Dental care

Its always safe to get cap done after root canal treatment otherwise there are chances of tooth getting fractured. Filling may chip off.
