In Google I read that in one experiment they found rabies virus to be active for several hours to days at colder temp and absence of sunlight. Please advise in real life scenarios in winter as weather is around 5-8°C min. and sunlight visibility is very less, how long can the rabies virus be active on surfaces like metal gates, vegetables etc. So many monkeys come in our garden and sit on our iron gates, I have to open them every morning and I got a cut yesterday while doing so. Do I need vaccine?

Rabies virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected saliva or brain/nervous tissue, typically via bites or open wounds.
Simply touching a surface that may have been contaminated poses an extremely low risk, especially if there are no open wounds or mucosal contact.
