Yes, rabies symptoms come only in rabies infected animals. Rabies can only spread via infected animal bite or direct contact of fresh saliva in the bleeding wound of another animal. No cat with rabies will have symptoms and die with rabies.
There are two types of rabies. In both types, animals will not be able to eat or drink anything and will have excessive salivation. In that case, they will also die within 10 days

Rabies can only be transmitted when one other rabbied cat or dog bite the normal cat unvaccinated cat
