What is the difference between T3 and T4 test and Free T3 and Free T4 test? Which is better than the other?

Free hormones are the active ones. These values are more appropriate indicators in certain cases. The prescribing physician would order tests based on these factors

T 3 and T4 are total levels which consist of free T3  and free 4 and protein.. Free levels are active levels functionally.. Routinely we do total levels and are usully enough.. . Some specific indications we need free levels... Consult nearby endocrinologist..!!
