Free hormones are the active ones. These values are more appropriate indicators in certain cases. The prescribing physician would order tests based on these factors

T 3 and T4 are total levels which consist of free T3 and free 4 and protein..
Free levels are active levels functionally..
Routinely we do total levels and are usully enough.. . Some specific indications we need free levels...
Consult nearby endocrinologist..!!
