I wanted to confirm if I should do FBS, TSH, FT4 tests after 3 hours (8am) of taking Thyronorm 25 mcg at 5 am in morning with fasting overnite. Or should I skip thyroid medication for these tests? Will fasting affect TSH/ FT4?

Thyroid medication has a slow-release and steady effect over time. However, for accurate TSH measurement, it's recommended to take the medication after the blood draw or at least 4-6 hours before the test to minimize potential interference with TSH levels.
Fasting status can influence TSH levels, but the effect is usually minimal. However, for consistency, healthcare professionals may recommend repeating tests under similar conditions, including fasting or non-fasting status, to ensure accurate comparisons.
The thyroid function test should be done soon after getting up. However, since most of t he labs start collecting samples at 7 am.
So, don’t take thyroid medicine or any food till yo it sample is collected.
