I am a 20 yo student. Going through a break up. It's been 2 years since me and my ex partner broke up but I'm not able to get over him. I'm lagging in my academics as well even after working hard for it. I have a few friends but I have become paranoid after my breakup. I feel my present freinds would leave me too, my friendship with them would fade away eventually. I don't want to discuss with my family because I feel they will not understand and I don't want to become a burden over them as well. I have lost my self esteem. Besides all this, I'm an overthinker too and make up problems way big in my head. I'm in a dilemma wether I am suffering from anything serious or is this bound to happen at this very age and with all these conditions prevailing. I have confusion about my career as well. I want to know whether I need a therapy or my condition would get better with time. Or in case I need a therapy, then what kind of therapy do I need (oral or physical) and with or w/o medicines.

I would suggest you should Consult a Psychiatrist for this for a thorough assessment. After an detailed assessment, the doctor would be in a position to advice you what type of treatment would be necessary in your case. If symptoms are of Moderate to Severe intensity, generally an initial course of Medicines is suggested. If symptoms are mild or in later course of treatment, they get better, then there can be a role of therapy. Therapy is done very systematically, on hourly basis per week for multiple weeks. The plan is chalked out after a detailed evaluation. Hence it would be advisable to Consult a Psychiatrist for further management.
