My orthodentist told me to brush 3 times a day. Before eating or after eating which is the best time for brushing teeth? If i don't eat anything acidic then can I brush my teeth immediately after eating? Is there any wrong in Brushing right after eating? Please help me with details.

When a patient is undergoing orthodontic treatment, it is very important to take extra care of the hygiene so that gum disease/ inflammation and tooth demineralisation/ decay doesn’t start. It is very easy to get the food particles stuck/ lodge on the brackets and it becomes a good place for the bacteria to multiply and increase in number which would lead to serious problems mentioned above. This can leads to failure of orthodontic Treatment as well, if severe. What, if the tooth decay starts while you are doing a treatment for correcting your crooked teeth? Isn’t that a loss to lose a normal healthy tooth structures.
Next Steps
I would recommend brushing your teeth 3-4 times a day - morning, after food and snacks & before bed. You may wait for 30 minutes -1 hour after meal to brush. Use interdental brushes between the brackets. Use mouth rinse regularly.
Health Tips
Don’t try to do flossing. It can lead to breaking the brackets bonded on the teeth. Wishing you a beautiful smile to your braces treatment !!

Hi, It is always after eating.. Obviously except for the mornings when you brush after waking up. But always brush right after your meals. You can also use mouthwashes and oral rinses. WaterPik is a very good option for you.

Braces treatment requires extra maintenance as plaque buildup around the bracket is easy . Normally we advise to brush twice a day for 2 minutes and rinsing your mouth after anything you eat so that there is no food stuck between your teeth and the bracket. There is no harm in brushing right after you eat . In fact the ideal brushing regime should be brushing before going to bed , mouthwash after you wake up and brushing after eating breakfast.

hello, ideally you should brush twice a day only. brushing more than twice a day doesnt add to results gained with twice a day brushing as suggested by textbooks. secondly, you should brush after eating preferably, no matter what you consume. as most of the food particles lodged in some inaccessible areas may ferment to produce acid on the tooth surface or may lead to poor oral hygiene and further gum diseases.
Next Steps
you should ask to your orthodontic about enamel remineraling toothpaste if needed in your case being an orthodontic patient.
Health Tips
avoid hard and sticky food.
