Prolonged cough and one time blood
I had viral fever 2 weeks ago after that there has been a prolonged cough. Yesterday I was travelling in flight and while landing I had unbearable pain in both my ears. When i was in the hotel at night I coughed and I could see cough with brown blood. This happened for the first time. After that woke up several times at night and while scraping my rouge I could see slight blood twice. Morning there is nothing , cough is also white/ yellow , but there is a throat pain. I was reading in google and could see blood in cough is the symptom of lung cancer. I am very worried since then.

Post viral tussive syndrome can occur few weeks after the viral fever has subsided. It may last 3-8 weeks and usually resolves on its own. You can take anti tussives containing dexteomethorphan, benzonatate. Avoid triggers like smoke, dust , cold air etc
Next Steps
If the symptoms persist consult a doctor and get a chest xray done

I understand your worry, but don’t panic. After a viral fever, it’s common to have prolonged cough. The brown blood you noticed could be due to irritation or small blood vessel rupture from severe coughing or dryness during flight travel. Scraping your throat or forceful coughing can also cause slight bleeding. Since the blood is not persistent and the sputum is white/yellow, it’s unlikely to be anything serious like lung cancer. However, throat pain and ongoing cough should be checked. I suggest visiting a doctor for a chest examination and basic tests (like chest X-ray) to rule out infection or inflammation. Most likely, it’s post-viral or due to strain. Stay hydrated, avoid forceful coughing, and don’t rely on Google,it can scare you more than help.
