Prolactin level test
I have intial pcos... why doctor asked me for prolactin level test? What does this mean.. is it necessary to take this test?

Better to test as hyperprolactinemia can also cause anovulation or oligo ovulation and hence polycystic ovaries.

Prolactin is just a basic hormonal to test to rule out other causes of irregular cycles. Pcos indeed is very common but certain hormonal problems like thyroid abnormalities , increased prolactin need to be ruled out first.

Yes sometimes pCOD is associated with hyper prolactinemia in 30 % of cases
