Problem is breast feeding
Dear Doctor, My wife has delivered a baby 10 days ago. From last 2-3 month there was pain in nipples. We thought its normal. But after breastfeeding for last 10 days now the pain has become very severe. She is unable to breastfeeding. Pain is in nipples only. The normal milk deposit pain is bearable. Please advice what to do.

Hi, you can use linolin or nipcare ointment after each feed and before feeding wipe it out. Most imp is may be during feeding baby comes out of areola (total black portion)  to neeples,so you r having pain. Watch for that. You can use neeple shields and through it you can feed. Or meet one lactation consultant.

She can try a lanolin based nipple cream which will be available over the counter. She needs to wipe the cream off properly prior to breast feeding. If breast feeding is too painful, she could try expressing the milk and feeding that milk to baby, rather than suckling. cold compress also may help.
