Pregnant 8week want to Chk thyroid dose
Hi, I Hve completed my 8 weeks of pregnancy n my TSH is 4.52 so I Hve been advised to take 12.5mcg tab of Thyro norm. I am worried as high TSH wld impact my baby's neurological condition n this 3rd month is v important for the baby. I m worried sch a less dose wld fetch me any good result or I shld atleast take 25or50or100 mcg thyronorm tab. As earlier in 2020 I had thyroid issues with TB so in 2020 I stopped my TB medication and wen I got myself tested in March 2020 it was 4.2 TSH since then I did not take thyronorm. N in 2021 I am expecting is in third month which is v imp for the baby so advice me if I shld take 12.5 mcg thyronorm tab or higher dose . As wen I was in my TB treatment I started with this dose only but no improvement was seen in one months time . Plz advice me

There are two ways we can treat hypothyroidism, either Start from small dose and increase slowly or start with a large dose and come down. I believe in starting with higher dose. I would give 50 mcg to start and then TSH after one month. Adjust dose according to TSH level. I suppose both are right.
Next Steps
Take the recommended dose on empty stomach in the morning. Don't take any thing orally for atleast 30 minutes.
