Last evening I had 7-8 slices of Britannia fruit cake which contains papya cut and pineapple cut..I am 18 weeks pregnant but last night I had cramps in my lower abdomen on which I took pan D 30mg after consulting my doctor...now I don't have any pain but is it safe to have such cakes at this stage of pregnancy? Or shall I go for a check up? Plz suggest!

Consider it from this point of view; How much cake could have eaten ? May be 50-60 gm. How much papaya or pineapple could have been there in that cake? Maybe 10 gm. How much papain could have been there in that cake ? Maybe 1-2 gm . What will 1-2 gm of papain do to an 18 weeks pregnancy? Nothing. So you are safe. The cramps that you had could have been due to Maida or castor sugar or some such things.
