Thank you for sharing your concern 🙏. First, let me reassure you — having diabetes does not automatically mean your newborn will have diabetes or any genetic disorder. Many healthy babies are born to mothers with diabetes, especially when blood sugar levels are well-controlled, like in your wife’s case with HbA1c of 6.5%. However, every case is unique, and factors like family history, pregnancy health, and mother’s overall lifestyle play an important role. To guide you better and give you a clear, personalized assessment for your wife and baby’s safety, I’d recommend a private consultation. This way, we can review her medical history, diet, and lifestyle in detail and provide you with specific advice and preventive measures.
Next Steps
You can book your private consultation at your convenience, and we’ll ensure you get complete clarity and a safe plan ahead.

Hii Diabetes works differently for kids . It is not necessorry that the child will be born with it . Alot of mothers develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy but the child is healthh and safe . Diabetes doesnt travel to the child

Your wife’s HbA1c of 6.5% shows her sugars are moderately controlled. Having diabetes during pregnancy does not mean the baby will definitely be diabetic or have genital disorders. However, uncontrolled sugars can increase risks like large baby size, low blood sugar in the newborn, or complications during delivery.
Next Steps
• She should continue regular monitoring of blood sugars. • Follow a balanced diet, regular physical activity (as advised by her doctor), and medications/insulin if prescribed. • Regular check-ups with her obstetrician and diabetologist are very important. • After delivery, both mother and baby should be monitored closely.

If you keep your blood sugar under control before conception and during pregnancy, these risks drop dramatically-almost the same as non -diabetic mothers . Risk of baby developing diabetes after in later this is genetic tendency, not a certainty. Healthy lifestyle, breastfeeding, balanced diet , and normal weight in child reduce the risk . Diabetes does not cause genital disorders in the baby What you should do Get HBA1C checked -aim < 6.5 % before conceiving During pregnancy regular blood sugar monitors After delivery-monitors the newborn blood sugar in the first 24 hours Breastfeeding helps both mother and baby with sugar control and lower future diabetes risk for the child
