Porn related
I have been watching porn for past 6 years. On regular basis from past 2 years I get frequent thoughts about the things I have watched which I shouldn't get . I feel bad about myself and I have watched things I shouldn't have watched . And those things keep coming to my head If I stop watching porn from today how many months will it take to get rid of those thoughts which come because of watching porn. Sometimes thoughts are like I imagine myself in that situation which I shouldn't do What can I do to recover and will it be alright if I quit it? Can the thoughts which I get because of watching porn be reduced and how long will it take? Because these thoughts I feel bad about myself and stopped talking to women. How do I recover?

What you are experiencing can happen in some individuals after prolonged and repeated exposure to pornography, especially when certain disturbing or unwanted content has been viewed over time. The brain can continue replaying images, scenes, or imagined situations even after a person no longer wants them. This does not mean you are a bad person or that these thoughts define your character. In many cases, these intrusive thoughts gradually reduce when pornography is stopped and healthier mental habits are developed. Recovery is possible, but it usually takes time and consistency. Some people notice improvement within a few weeks, while for others it may take a few months for the frequency and intensity of thoughts to reduce significantly. The important point is that unwanted thoughts often become weaker when they are not repeatedly reinforced through continued viewing or excessive guilt and fear.
Next Steps
The first step is to completely reduce or stop pornography exposure and avoid triggers that repeatedly pull your mind back into those patterns. Try not to panic when thoughts come into your mind, because fighting them aggressively or constantly checking whether they are gone can make them return more often. Instead, focus on redirecting your attention toward productive routines, real-life social interaction, physical activity, studies, work, hobbies, and positive daily structure. Avoid isolating yourself from women or social situations due to guilt, as this can increase anxiety and overthinking. Recovery happens gradually through consistency, patience, and rebuilding healthy confidence. For better professional guidance, emotional support, and confidential help in overcoming these unwanted thoughts and improving mental wellness, you are advised to connect with us at 9 3 1 5 6 6 1 5 6 5 for personalized assistance and proper guidance.
Health Tips
Maintain a disciplined daily routine with regular sleep, exercise, and reduced screen exposure, especially during late-night hours when urges and overthinking are often stronger. Meditation, mindfulness, reading, outdoor activity, and spending more time with supportive people can help retrain the mind toward healthier thought patterns. Avoid repeatedly blaming yourself for past viewing habits, because excessive guilt can increase anxiety and make intrusive thoughts feel more powerful. Most importantly, understand that the brain is capable of adapting and recovering over time. With patience, healthy habits, and consistent effort, the unwanted thoughts can reduce considerably and your confidence and emotional balance can improve again. Thank you

Pornographic content can condition the brain to repeatedly replay sexual images and fantasies, especially if watched regularly for years. Because of this, intrusive thoughts and unwanted imaginations may continue even after stopping. However, the brain gradually readjusts with time. If you stop watching porn completely, most people notice improvement over weeks to months. Usually: cravings and repetitive thoughts reduce in 4–8 weeks, guilt/anxiety starts improving earlier, and overall mental control and confidence improve over 2–6 months depending on frequency of use. Recovery becomes faster if you: completely avoid porn triggers, stop excessive masturbation linked to porn, stay busy physically and socially, exercise regularly, improve sleep, reduce isolation, and avoid sitting alone scrolling sexual content. Do not keep checking or fighting the thoughts repeatedly. The more you fear them, the more they return. Treat them as unwanted thoughts and let them pass without reacting. If thoughts become very distressing, compulsive, cause severe guilt, anxiety, depression, or interfere with daily life/social interaction, then consultation with a psychiatrist is required, medicines for obsessive intrusive thoughts or compulsive behavior. Yes, recovery is possible, and many people improve significantly after quitting porn and changing their routine.
