Please check the reports
This is regarding my father’s ( age 79 ) fast breathing problem, which usually happens after his afternoon sleep and after minor activities like bathing or using the toilet. I am sharing his echocardiography report, whole abdomen USG report, and chest X-ray (PA view) and CBC report for your review. I would be very grateful if you could kindly share your valuable opinion and guidance.

Looks like he has developed Heart Failure with water pooling in his body and lungs. Do the following, 1. Lasix (Furosemide) 40mg once a day for at least two weeks 2. ECG test 3. Blood tests: KFT, TSH 4. Will need a physical examination by a doctor and additional medications for heart failure All the best. www.jgsr-health-education.in

Based on the reports:
Next Steps
This is not an emergency unless: • Breathlessness at rest • Oxygen saturation < 92% • Swelling increasing rapidly • Chest pain Otherwise: Immediate Steps: ✔ Review with cardiologist urgently (not routine — but within days) ✔ Optimize heart failure medications: • ACE inhibitor / ARNI • Beta blocker • MRA (spironolactone) • SGLT2 inhibitor • Diuretics (very important here) ✔ Check: • Serum creatinine • Potassium • NT-proBNP (if available) • Repeat chest X-ray if worsening Fluid restriction may be required.
Health Tips
Until review: ✔ Monitor: • Daily weight • Urine output • Swelling • Breathlessness grading ✔ Reduce salt intake strictly ✔ Avoid excess fluid ✔ Elevate head while sleeping ✔ Avoid heavy bathing exertion Breathlessness after sleep happens because: • Fluid redistributes into lungs in supine position If breathlessness worsens suddenly, go to ER. ⸻ Important This is manageable but requires structured heart failure protocol treatment. If you share: • Current medications • BP readings • Oxygen saturation I can guide more specifically. Given his age and current findings, a proper cardiology-guided optimization can significantly improve symptoms and quality of life — do not delay consultation.

The reports suggest that his heart pumping is reduced, which can cause fluid collection and fast breathing after activity. This needs proper heart treatment and regular follow-up.
Next Steps
Please consult a cardiologist soon for medication adjustment and further care.
