Sad to hear that you had bad experience with dental treatment which has led to phobia . Sometimes anaesthesia will not work ,if there is severe infection due to pus accumulation..PH plays an important role for working of anaesthesia . In case of vestibular swelling due to pus accumulation ,we give a stab incision and remove the pus and treatment is carried on under antibiotic course .
Next Steps
Broken teeth with swelling indicates that it got infected .You have to get it treated on time .Don’t get scared about treatment .consult your near by dentist .I can assure you it’s not painful all the time .
Health Tips
I am Hyderabad based dentist and I have my own clinic I can refer you to near by dentist .

I understand that dental phobia can be a challenging issue to deal with. Overcoming dental anxiety is important for your oral health, so here are a few suggestions that may help: Communicate with your dentist: It's essential to find a dentist who understands your fears and is willing to work with you. Talk openly with your dentist about your anxiety and previous negative experiences. A compassionate and patient dentist will be able to explain the procedures, address your concerns, and develop a plan to help you feel more comfortable. Seek support: Consider bringing a trusted friend or family member to accompany you to your dental appointments. Having someone you trust by your side can provide comfort and reassurance during the visit. Gradual exposure: If your anxiety is severe, you can try desensitization techniques to gradually expose yourself to dental experiences. Start by visiting the dental office without undergoing any treatment, simply to get familiar with the environment. Over time, progress to more extensive visits, such as having a simple examination or cleaning. Relaxation techniques: Practice relaxation techniques to help manage anxiety during dental appointments. Deep breathing exercises, visualization, or listening to calming music can be helpful in reducing stress. Discuss these techniques with your dentist, and they may allow you to use them during the appointment. Sedation options: In cases of extreme dental phobia, dentists may offer sedation options to help you relax during treatment. Options such as oral sedation, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or intravenous (IV) sedation can be considered. Discuss these possibilities with your dentist to find the best option for you. In Hyderabad, there are likely dentists who specialize in treating patients with dental anxiety. You can search online for dental clinics that offer anxiety management or sedation dentistry. Reading reviews and seeking recommendations from others who have similar phobias might help you find a dentist who suits your needs. Remember, it's important to address your oral health issues to prevent further complications. With the right support and understanding from your dentist, you can work towards overcoming your dental phobia and receive the necessary treatment.

It is like any other fear. You must face it. In a good and gentle way. What I mean here is, take one step at a time. Visit a dentist for a consultation. See if you are comfortable with the dental clinic and the rapport they have with you. Regularly visit o for dental health check ups and biannual hygiene visit. These are simple short visits and are usually painless. So this will soon change your perspective and g how you feel about dental treatment. Again, don't wait for pain. Prevention is better than cure , even in dental medicine. Hope this helps. Let me know how you feel after implimenting. All the best.

You have already gotten over the first hurdle by accepting that your anxiety is the reason for not seeking a dental appointment. Next thing is to reason with yourself if this anxiety is helping you or harming you. Finally, if you still find it difficult to get over it, I suggest you see a therapist. There should be no shame in it. Just to let you know, your dentist may use medication to allay your anxiety or treat you under conscious sedation . All the best!
