My mother having serum creatinine level 7.3. We did dialysis by neck catheder for a month and later it removed. Now doctor suggesting us for perma catheder for Dialysis. Main reason is hand festula still not getting ready for Dialysis from 30 days.
My query is for now Perma catheder is safe ? And perma catheder for how many years it could work without infection ? Please doctor suggest me solution for my mother. And she is having pain and discomfort with this procedures with local anaesthesia is there a solution ?

Usually we start dialysis via temporary catheter for our patients and continue dialysis via the same until the fistula is ready. We use antibiotic lock solution in the catheter.
Some centres put temporary catheter, then change to permanent catheter untill fistula is ready.
Max wait time for fistula maturation- 1.5 months
If fistula is not maturing, then you can go for permanent catheter. It is safe.
Permanent catheter life can be as long as even one year, if handled properly. Life of catheter depends on handling of the catheter by the staff and patient.
