Brown spotting 18 days after IUI with a negative pregnancy test usually means your period is on its way, since IUI doesn't delay a period the way a positive pregnancy would. Brown spotting often comes just before fuller bleeding starts, sometimes a day or two ahead.
Next Steps
If full bleeding hasn't started in 2 to 3 more days, repeat the urine test with your first morning urine, since that's most accurate. Please see your fertility specialist either way to confirm the cycle outcome.
Health Tips
Go in sooner if the spotting turns to heavy bleeding with pain, or if it continues past a week without a clear period.
