As per duration, 8 days is definitely long. But you have to see how much is the blood loss. I suggest you should get a Sonography done. With a normal report it is worthwhile trying to stop the bleeding by medicines.

The initial cycles in any adolescent can be prolonged or irregular. It may or may not be a matter of concern. Certain tests are required to rule some underlying issues. Another concern could be a fall in hemoglobin due to prolonged menses. You'll understand the situation better if you consult a gynaec. However don't panic... Usually it's nothing.
