My Mother, 60 years have been diagnosed with Perforated Eardrums.The doctor says Surgery is not possible at this age, only medicines will work, Is it serious and can this be cured permanently?

Surgery can be done and preferred if patient is surgically fit in preanaesthetic checkup.
As age progresses SNHL component in hearing loss increases
It is better to hear with hearing aid when ear drum is intact rather than perforated...
Decision is based on patient condition. Hearing test report. Surgery is advisable in this age but final call can be taken after detail assesment and after that patients choice as this is an elective procedure.
