A cast is necessary for proper fracture healing, usually for a duration of at least 4–6 weeks. You may consider using a fiberglass cast, which is lighter and more comfortable than the conventional plaster of Paris (POP) cast. After cast removal, a supervised physiotherapy regimen is essential to help regain knee range of motion (ROM) and muscle strength.
