Is there any carious tooth beside the swelling? It might be a localised abscess or a space infection. Do warm salt water rinse 4-5 times to subside the pain and swelling. You need to start an antibiotic course soon to reduce the infection. You can take Ketorol-DT or Voveron-D for the pain.
