It may be due to your sleeping position or change in mattress or pillow. You need to consult a good physiotherapist for proper diagnosis. You will require some strengthening exercises along with stretching exercises.

If your pain increases at night when you lie down on your side could be because of anything from a pinched nerve to a rotator cuff problem in shoulder to nerve compression in armpit. If your pain arising when you lie on your back, it may be coming from the tightness of the anterior chest muscles. Soft tissue release and stretching should give you relief. Consult physiotherapist for further clarification..
